Robert AM Stephens Has Died

I just received the following fax attached to an email from an anonymous
source. This material has not been confirmed:

Stephens Obituary

Robert A.M. Stephens, who showed up on the UFOlogy scene about one year ago,
made quite a stir in many UFOlogy camps, including late night talk show host
Art Bell.

Stephens made a very brief appearance on the Bell show in late December of
1998. Mr. Stephens was to debate a regular guest of Mr. Bells', Richard C
Hoagland. For some unknown reason, Mr. Stephens was cut off from the show by
Mr. Bell.

Apparently intensely angered by this, Mr. Stephens then created a website
called "Behold" and "Shady Pines", depicting many of the mainstream
"UFOlogists" including Art Bell as "guests" of a fictitious insane asylum.

Following a nearly fatal illness and legal action against him by Art Bell,
Mr. Stephens has disappeared from the UFOlogy scene.

Rest in peace, Robert Stephens....

I really hate to be so skeptical, but here's another Anon posting an alleged anonymous email with fax attachment.

Imo, Mr. RAMS can no longer con anybody anywhere so it's time to fold the tent and move on. Appears to be just one more attempt at distraction. Could be wrong, but I prefer a little proof from the RAMS supporters before I buy this one.

I was considering bringing this up, since I was looking into it earlier. There are pics of the scanned fax and article on the web, so at least there's that. However, I find it odd that I received the same email message from another list I am on earlier...it seems that story is being blanketed. The Missoulan doesn't show the article or an obit, there's nothing on the article from the fax that shows where the article is from. I don't think Art or RAMS could gain from this type of story, so I think it moves the players of this one out of the previous core. In other words, I wonder if its not connected to either of them and there's another reason for this action.

That when you start thinking about it, there's really a decent population of people that would have the motive to pull something like this off. Usually when I think of UFO phenomenon, I can't fathom that so many people would try to hoax different things. Obviously a good number of things in the fringe are hoaxed, and I just don't get why someone would have the lack of integrity to fake something. But then I see a parallel to something like this and realize that the reasons are probably as diverse as the people involved and they can justify it in their own mind. I don't know who's responsible or if its even a hoax for sure...it just doesn't say much for people.

The point wasn't if it achieved your level of entertainment...well, maybe it was. However, that point was the one I was speaking out against. My point was if this is a hoax, its disinformation, and I'm not referring to Reap's actions that clearly illustrate parody. I'm not going to restate all of my points, but if you re-read my message with the understanding that you didn't get it the first time, you might see where I'm coming from.

As far as finding yourself a new home, I'm happy you've found somewhere you're comfortable and are coming to the understanding that there are places where different things are appropriate and accepted.

as I was about to point out..the"obit" appeared on the new "REAP" therefore..quod erat demonstrandum..it is obviously a base canard..

In any case..its a bit hard to expire if you never aspired..so to speak..

At least figuring out where Truth doth Lie.

Sometimes the obvious is overlooked because the focus is on the obscure. A good lesson and the Word from the wise is Truth.

Frustration is felt on both ends of miscommunication.
I am just now seeing some of the attempts at communication that were missed as the mind was not as open as it thought on the other end.

Maybe a trip to the ICU for the terminally slow to catch on would have helped. :)

I believe that we will be seeing lots of hoaxes now that Spamhaus has taken over Reap. They faked a long IRC conversation the other night to make it look like they were being stalked by an urban legend. Those two "parodists" are having quite a time at our expense! For those of you who frequent Reap and might be trying to cozy up to these two, I suggest you use caution because YOU will be the victim of their next parody.

As I said, they are good at doctoring images in Photo Shop and seem to have nothing better to do with their time than concoct elaborate hoaxes. It makes me wonder how much of the turmoil of the past months has been caused by them. "Hey Bo, look what we've got the fools believing NOW."

...who hopped on the lynch mob band wagon and believed without question the lies and total ludicrous BS that circulated the web - and in fact, even added your own extra taste to it. It is not RAMS you have to blame - it is YOU, because until you do, you will never discover truth.

I know that most of you will never believe this but it has to be stated anyway - your paranoia and zeal for a public excution destroyed many families and the most profound tool for truth ever offered to you. I will watch the rest from the safety of my home in australia now.

.......about my death or anyone elses and Lawsuits and Art Bell-my hero.......

In fact, I have come to realize that Art Bell is the only sane one of this entire culture.

1. He came in to a frightened pond of loony tunes----then took over. (Well done, Art!!!)
2. He took over--now flourishes--I am helping!!
3. He took all these fruitcake-freaks who should be otherwise institutionalized, and has lead them in great fervor and profit (as any good Feringee should do) and has become rich. (for myself, after one year of this nuthouse my book deals offers to me alone has made me slightly wealthy......)
4. He continues to propagate just the sort of terror these freaks thive on.
5. He is now my new hero in Ufology, however, I will continue to harrass and raunch him terribly since he thrives on this and its great for ratings and this lawsuit will go on for many many years as I have promised---too, my cut from this is simply out of this world--(trust me!). However, since I, like Art Bell, bank offshore with all assets neither of us will get anything from this lawsuit except for the pleasure of keeping you freaks on your toes and in full handwringing mode.
6. Art Bell has raped every fool in this culture as witnessed by the subjugation of Oates on his show--as has been reported to me by various listeners via e-mail. And everyone plays into it as a child seeks sweet candy from daddy.
7. Art Bell should always be the new champion of this dark wonder and I will support him forever behind the scenes as I have continued to do since 12-31-1998, since my staged, planned, throw-off from his show--a planned cabal between Hoagland, Art, and myself, to get new ratings and create a 'villian' within Ufology that all you freako insects could sink their teeth into (me). (I'm the 'Stephano' of Ufology-just like the real one for Daze Of Our Lives)
