President?
tilos
Prefers Presidents that will be respected by those who only

respect an ability and willingness to get tough if necessary.
He'll do just fine. I like George W. as he has done a good job as Governor (
i.e. he hasn't screwed anything up worse than it was when he took over ) but
McCain certainly has an appeal as a man who would restore respect to the Office.
Of course whoever is next will always have to fight off that mental picture of
Bubba and Monica reading Cigar World.
:)
Gatekeeper....
Lets not forget the fact that OIL is a family biz....

Texas based oil biz backing the winner? And so is Tilos?
Gates of Babylon....

Former President George Bush did not help the oil industry
Fri Oct 22 19:31:00 1999
at least not the domestic producers which is who I work for.
So no loyalty on that front.
As a matter of fact I think we should do everything we can to eliminate oil as a
major source of energy. I am concerned that draining the oil resevoirs could
have a detrimental effect on the Earth as an electrical system and could
possibly have something to do with the depletion of the ozone layer. The oil
acting as insulator in rock formations capable of holding an electrical charge.
Hence the St. Elmos's fire and strange effects associated with Spindletop in
East Texas. The Seven Sisters has taken on new meaning now that I've seen some
of the numbers games that are played. It certainly sounds better than the 19.5
Sisters.
haha

I do not consider the above as being disloyal to those who
Fri Oct 22 22:43:38 1999
I work for as any new technology would be slow to replace the infrastructure in
place that runs on hydrocarbons. The U.S. will alway be a net importer of oil
anyway so domestic production will continue regardless of other developments
though the price could hammered. Then of course we would need to be subsidized
by the government LOL
They could pay us to not do anything ! Don't laugh ask the Dairymen about that
program.
Oilmen tend to get little sympathy in hard time though. :)
Make that Dairypersons and Oilpersons as I need to brush up on polite speech for
the MoonCam PR campaign !

Tilos, great points here....
Sat Oct 23 04:39:42 1999
you keep pushing buttons - probably without realizing how and why.
We've got a finite quantity of oil which we're depleting rapidly. We've got to
direct our energy needs to other resources or we'll be leaving our heirs -
literally - in the dark. They will look back on us as being fools. Indeed, where
energy is concerned - we are fools.
We practically hunted the whale to extinction for its oil. The dinosaurs get the
distinction of becoming extinct twice?
We've got to bust the door to alternate energy sources for utilities and
transportation wide open - in our lifetimes. This is another legacy we must
leave our children with....

Re: President? Don't think so, although he seems like
Fri Oct 22 15:44:30 1999
a decent, honorable human being.
#1. Our political system has been corrupted by $$$$$. The Bushman wins there.
Issues and character come in faintly, if at all, with much of the population.
#2. As that blasted logical Jason pointed out recently - a military background
may have a negative impact on any idea of taking full pix of the backside of the
moon. I favor an astronaut - but was blown right out of the sky!!!
Just kidding, Jason. Your point seems valid . . .

Or just maybe he could tell us why without showing things

of a military nature.
Sort of like "Yes, we have strategic assets that would be compromised by
certain civilian missions involving imaging the Moon or orbiting the Moon;
however, we will release all information that does not compromise the
aforementioned areas of strategic importance.
Of course that might not be enought for some, though I could accept that and
start on something new like Mars!.
I would also like to hear a believable explanation for Roswell from a High Level
Official even if it isn't true. I just get really disappointed in the lack of
creative effort that goes into coverups. It almost like they are doing a shoddy
job out of guilt and a desire to tell the truth. haha

I'd seriously consider
Fri Oct 22 15:33:07 1999
casting a vote that direction.... (U.S. Senator - AZ)
Too bad all the real contenders have dropped out of that race - or will be
jumping out of the party.
I'm hoping we're not left with another choice of the lesser of two evils this
time - again.
Debaser
Of the few elections I've been
Fri Oct 22 16:51:10 1999
old enough to vote for, and many I hear of in the past, it always seems to come
down to the lesser of two evils. What I wonder is if this is a rather new (since
the 60's or so) occurrence. Could it be that the strong leaders don't get the
funding they need to make it through the primaries and campaigns? As Mrs. Dole
recently said, "it felt like there were two campaigns". Would I be out
on a limb to speculate that the contributors recognize candidates they can manipulate
and influence and that is how we end up with the lesser of two evils?
Interesting to note that Congress recently let a bill to ban soft money
contributions to campaigns filibuster out and die.

Serenity
Of those currently in the running...

...he impresses me the most. So often, though, the best candidate isn't the one
nominated. I remember Paul Tsongas in 1992 for whom I'd have voted in a minute.
Probably best, in view of his health, that he didn't win the nomination, but I
sure wish Clinton hadn't.
I will be sending a (small) contribution to the proposed
"spokesperson's" campaign. Maybe along with a letter telling him of
our MoonCam project???
What do all of you think?
GOM
Hi Serenity, Could be a little early for the MoonCam . . .
Fri Oct 22 16:16:21 1999
Just my thought. Not sure that he would actually even get to see your letter,
unless you have a good "in" . . .
But certainly a very nice thought.
